Less than 24 hours after helping pass the tax reform bill in the nation’s capital, U.S. Sen. Dean Heller took part Saturday afternoon in a Hispanic political forum in Las Vegas.

And foes of the bill’s passage were ready to greet him.

More than 10 people were removed from the event at Palace Station, and some derogatory comments were vented.

Heller was a guest of The LIBRE Initiative’s Forum series, which is intended to “inform Hispanics about policies that affect them, and to provide them with the tools they need to build better lives,” according to the group.

But during the question-and-answer session, opponents made their feelings known.

Heller defended his vote.

“There’s been some speculation that this bill will add to the debt,” he said. “What we do know is if we increase the growth in the economy in this country.”

Heller has said that the tax cuts and jobs act that passed early Saturday morning will add more than 8,000 jobs in Nevada, double the child tax credit and provide relief to small businesses.

The senator says he hopes President Trump receives the legislation before Christmas.
