3-week-old baby found safe in Gainesville, mother facing felony charge
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WGFL) —
A baby missing since Sunday was found safe in Gainesville Wednesday and now his mother is facing a felony charge.
Alachua County Sheriff's deputies say 3-week-old Jayce Jenkins is safe. Deputies say he has been in the state's custody since he and his mom both tested for methamphetamines when he was born.
Deputies say 37-year-old Alison Jenkins left the Mother Intensive Support Treatment Program at Meridian with Jayce on Sunday. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement put out a missing child alert Tuesday.
Sheriff's Office spokesman Art Fogey says Jenkins will be charged with interfering with custody, a third-degree felony.
