Alachua County sheriff's arrest suspect after Friday afternoon burglary
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WGFL) —
Alachua County Sheriff's deputies say an alert neighbor helped them catch a man accused of breaking into a home this morning.
Deputies responded to a burglary in progress call at the 400 block of NE 44th Street just before noon.
A woman told deputies she startled the men as they were trying to remove TVs from her neighbor's house.
"There were several TVS that, it looks like they were actually in the process of trying to carry out of the house," Sgt. Chris Sims said. "The reason the items weren't taken out of the house is thanks to a Good Samaritan neighbor who came out, startled both of them, and that's when they fled on foot."
Sims said deputies immediately surrounded the area. He said they found one of the suspects on University Avenue seven minutes after they received the call.
