Authorities from multiple agencies have ended a four-hour manhunt for four suspects wanted in connection with an armed burglary near Interlachen.

Putnam County Sheriff's Capt. Hancel Woods said they received a call about 9:20 a.m. about a burglary in progress at a home on Chesser Monroe Road, just off State Road 20, in between Interlachen and the Alachua County Line.

A witness told deputies they saw four black males, one armed with a rifle and the others with handguns, fleeing from the house into the woods.

Woods said deputies from Putnam, Alachua, Bradford and Clay counties set up a perimeter over a very large, rural area with very few houses.

Deputies used dogs and helicopters to try and track the suspects up until about 1:30 p.m.

"It became pretty evident that they had gotten beyond our perimeter and we lost them," Woods said.

Woods said no one was home at the house and no one was injured.
