Calling all artists: Alachua County asks for submissions for art installations downtown
The walls are in need of some color and the Alachua County Arts Council wants local artists to change that.
The county is asking people to submit proposals for public art installations for the public defenders new building downtown.
"It's a building I think is conducive to a lot of creative art work it’s an office that cares about justice and equality and we think there’s some really exciting opportunities here," County Official, Mark Sexton said.
The county allocated a budget of $40,000 for permanent installations outside the building and in the lobby for people to see.
"We think artwork is important, we think art can be another way to communicate the values of a community and we think there's no better place than the public defenders office for an opportunity to do a really significant piece," Sexton said.
