Columbia County sheriff deputies search for rifles, ammunition stolen from patrol vehicles
LAKE CITY, Fla. (WGFL) —
Columbia County Sheriff's deputies are asking for help finding rifles, ammunition and tactical vests stolen from two different patrol vehicles in the last week.
The sheriff's office says the first break-in happened on Aug. 4th. The deputy's marked, 2017 Ford Explorer was parked at Windsong Apartments in Lake City when someone shattered the back window. The suspect or suspects stole an Anderson AR-15 .223 rifle, a black rifle case, a 30-round magazine and two tactical vests, one green and one black.
The second theft happened on Country Club Road on Aug. 8th. Deputies say someone broke into another marked Explorer and stole a second Anderson rifle, a camouflage backpack, an Italian bayonet, .40-caliber and .223-caliber ammunition.
