Florida deputies searching for man who left wounded burglary suspect at hospital

Marion County Sheriff's deputies say the driver of this car dragged a mortally wounded burglary suspect out of his car and left him at the hospital Monday.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office is asking for your help identifying a man who drove a mortally wounded burglary suspect to the hospital, dragged him out of his car and drove off.

Deputies say the wounded man was shot while burglarizing a home at 10420 SE 158th Place in Summerfield around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.

Deputies say the armed man entered the victim's home and injured his dog. The victim told deputies he barricaded himself inside a room and shot the suspect when he tried to force himself inside the room.

Deputies say the man left. Soon after, an unknown man pulled up to the Ocala Health Summerfield Emergency Room, dragged the suspect from his vehicle, knocked on the door to alert staff and then drove away as the suspect lay in the parking lot in front of the hospital. The burglary suspect, whose name hasn't been released, died at the hospital.

The sheriff's office released security video from the hospital Thursday.

Anyone with information about the man who drove the car is asked to call Detective Larry McArdle at (352) 369-3535, or Crime Stoppers at (352) 368-7867.
