Gainesville Bass Pro Shops welcomes new fish to the in store aquarium, raises awareness
Four new Largemouth Bass are now swimming inside Gainesville's Bass Pro Shops 12,000 gallon aquarium.
What makes these fish different is they are tagged!
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation tagged bass over eight pounds statewide for their studies. Regional Freshwater Fisheries Administrator Allen Martin said they have them in stores to raise awareness and teach people what to do when they catch a tagged fish.
"We tag fish in the wild and we ask anglers when they catch those fish to cut the tag off the fish and call us and let us know and we will give them information of what to do... and they get a reward for doing so," Martin said.
It's a win win, anglers get a cash reward of up to $100 and the FWC will get information for their study.
The information and the number to call is on each specific tagged fish.
