Gainesville city employee steals nearly 100K
A Gainesville City worker is behind bars after police say she stole more than $91,000. Natwaina Clark, 33, is accused of using city credit cards for personal shopping and is being charged with a felony offense involving grad theft.
Clark is a former employee of Gainesville's Park, Recreation and Cultural Affairs; after a recent review of finances staff discovered budget concerns. Through an administrative investigation, Clark used city credits for more than 150 purchases.
Since November 2015 she had made multiple charges on three different credit cards- totaling $91, 598.
Police say a number of charges we made outside of the work place and that the investigation could take some time. However, after searching Clark's home they say many purchases seem to be consumer purchases.
