Gainesville Police arrest man accused of pointing gun at officer
GAINESVILLE, FL (WGFL) —
Gainesville Police have arrested a man accused of pointing a gun at an officer last Friday.
Kevin Darrod Bradshaw, 28, of Newberry was arrested Wednesday night and charged with assault on a police officer and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. He's being held at the Alachua County Jail on $600,000 bond.
Police say the officer was responding to a report of loud music coming from a car behind the Kava Lounge on University Boulevard. Officers say one of the men pulled something out of his shirt and put it under the back seat.
The officer asked the man if the object was gun or drugs. Police say he acted nervous and asked why the officer would assume it was a gun.
When the officer walked around the car to get a better look, police say the man dove back into the car and grabbed a gun from beneath the seat.
Police say he pointed it at the officer, got out of the vehicle and ran away. Officers surrounded the area but couldn't find the suspect, who was described as a black male with dreadlocks and gold teeth.
RTA contacted police and say the man may have boarded a bus on 2nd Avenue and got off at Rosa Parks Station.
