Gainesville Police release images of car they say was involved in three drive-by shootings
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WGFL) —
Gainesville Police now say they believe three drive-by shootings that wounded two people early Wednesday morning were all connected.
Police on Thursday released images of a 2000-2005 Buick LeSabre with tinted windows that they say was involved in all three incidents.
The first shooting happened around 2 a.m. at 907 NW 4 Place. Police say two cars were hit by gunfire. Two men were in the vehicles but were not hurt.
The second shooting happened around 3:20 a.m. at 300 NE 11 St. at 3:20 a.m. One car was hit. A woman and man were inside the car. Police say the woman was shot in the neck but her injuries were considered minor.
The third shooting happened around 3:35 a.m. at 211 SW 6 Ave. at 3:35 a.m. Police say two cars were struck. A man standing by a car was shot several times and is in critical condition.
Police are not releasing the names of the victims because the shooter or shooters have not been captured.
Officer Ben Tobias said the motive behind the shooting is not known but they do know the victims were not randomly selected. He said there appears to be no threat to the general public.
Tobias said some of the witnesses are cooperating. Some are not.
