Gainesville woman charged with animal cruelty after two dogs found emaciated, ill
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WGFL) —
A 21-year-old Gainesville woman is accused of neglecting her two dogs to the point they will probably have to be euthanized.
Kya Benjamin was charged with two counts of aggravated animal cruelty after police say they found her two emaciated dogs living in trash and their own feces at her apartment on 110 NW 39th Avenue. Police say the dogs, a male bulldog named Hiro and a mixed-breed female named Famous, didn't have food and were left alone in the apartment for weeks at a time. Investigators say both animals had injuries that caused bleeding.
Animal Control told police the dogs will likely need to be euthanized because of their conditions.
