Homeless man accused of trying to have sex with two teenage girls

Jermaine Montique is being held on $140,000 bond at the Alachua County Jail.

A homeless man is accused of trying to lure two teenage girls into sex by showing them naked photos on his cellphone.

Alachua County Sheriff's deputies charged 31-year-old Jermaine Montique with three counts of lewd and lascivious behavior, two counts of distributing obscene material to a minor and one count each of battery and resisting arrest.

A report says the victims, 14 and 13 years old, told deputies Montique repeatedly made contact with them Friday and Saturday in the Palms of Archer area, even though they tried to avoid him. They told deputies he offered to "chill" with them in an abandoned trailer and showed them photos of him having sex with a woman and masturbating.

The girls told them how old they were and he asked them, "Does age matter?" They say he hugged one of the girls and she pushed him away, according to the report.

When deputies approached Montique they say he tried to get away on a bike.

Montique told deputies he tried to get away because "he was scared" because "kids were involved and law enforcement always believes the kids."

Montique is being held at the Alachua County Detention Center on $140,000 bond.
