Strike Out Hunger helps feed Alachua County residents all week long
The Long Foundation Inc. was at the Alachua County Fairgrounds today for the first day of Strike Out Hunger week.
This community food drive is helping to feed Alachua County residents one can at a time
Rodney Long, president of The Long Foundation said they have received a lot of non-perishable items from community members, organizations and business to help bring these food items to local food banks and pantries.
"It's just something we do throughout the holidays to help those families who are struggling and can't make it through the holidays," Long said.
He said with all of the food donated, they are in need of volunteers to help sort.
They have several food giveaways and volunteer opportunities throughout the week.
