Man accused of fighting Alachua County sheriff's deputies, paramedics

Dashcam video from an Alachua County Sheriff's patrol car shows deputies carrying a man to a patrol car Thursday.

Alachua County Sheriff's deputies say a man is facing multiple charges after fighting with both them and paramedics.

The sheriff's office responded to a burglary call around 4 p.m. Thursday. Deputies say they quickly surrounded a suspect, who they identified as Justin Bryan.

Sgt. Chris Sims said Bryan fought with paramedics who were trying to help him, and deputies.

He was detained and taken to UF Health for complications from drugs, Sims said.

"The injuries were very minor," Sims said. "It was more superficial injuries such as scratches and pulled clothing, things of that nature. It could have been a very dangerous situation in which several people could have gotten injured, to include the suspect. Again, we try to drive home that these drugs, methamphetamines, addictions to narcotics, it's a bad deal. Not only could it hurt the person, but it could hurt first responders as well."

Sims said Bryan will be moved to the Alachua County jail on multiple charges once he is stable.
