Man accused of throwing hot oil Holly Heights residents
Gainesville, Fla. —
Alachua County Deputies arrested Darian Holmes on three counts of aggravated battery after he threw hot oil on three people in an apartment.
Deputies say Holmes threw hot oil on residents in an apartment in Holly Heights because he believed they stole rare and valuable coins from him.
Alachua County Sheriff's Office spokesman Brett Rhodenizer said deputies were attempting to locate Holmes when he contacted them, saying he was the victim of a crime.
" The suspect did eventually call law enforcement to report he was the victim of a crime, so we were able to make contact with him and not only arrest him for the aggravated battery for the hot oil, but he also had an active warrant at the the time," Rhodenizer said.
The victims only suffered minor injuries.
Deputies say no charges have been filed against them for Holmes' allegations.
