OCALA, Fla. (WGFL) —
The Marion County Sheriff's has identified the man shot and killed by a deputy Thursday.
Deputies say 30-year-old Dustin Odom was a patient of the Phoenix House rehabilitation center in Citra when he escaped shortly before 1 p.m., violating his court-ordered parole. The sheriff's office says deputies ordered him to stop but instead he "violently confronted" the two deputies.
Deputy Rory Johnson, a 14-year-veteran, fired and killed Odom, according to the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office has not said whether Odom was armed, but that it is still under investigation.
