OCALA, Fla. (WGFL) - Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods took to Facebook this week after his deputies responded to a call involving one of their own.

Woods said deputies responded to a suicide Wednesday and discovered the person who died was Adam Rendell, a deputy since 2004.

"I am shocked and saddened by this news," Woods said in the video. "Those of you that have lost a loved one to suicide know the pain and sadness it brings to those who knew that person. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends today. I ask that you would also keep my deputies that worked alongside him in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days and weeks as they cope with this tragic event."

Woods said his focus is assisting Rendell's family and the deputies impacted by his death.

He urged anyone who's thinking about taking their own life to call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK and COP LINE, the National Law Enforcement Officer hotline at 1-800-267-5463.
