Missing Florida teen found in Minnesota with man she met online
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WGFL) —
Authorities say a 17-year-old girl who disappeared from her Hawthorne home Friday was found Sunday at the Minnesota home of a man she met online.
Alachua County Sheriff's spokesman Art Forgey said Kaileigh Hand was located in Caledonia, Minnesota at the home of 28-year-old Charles McMullen. He said McMullen and his mother Judy McMullen are both charged with interfering with child custody.
Forgey said Kaileigh has been placed in foster care. Her mom Wendy posted on GoFundMe Monday that it's her responsibility to drive to Minnesota and return her daughter to Florida.
Deputies say Kaileigh met McMullen on an app called Line Chat. They say he initially identified himself as a 17-year-old truck driver. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement this weekend identified McMullen as the suspect and said the pair might be heading to Caledonia.
