Oak tree falls on top of Gainesville apartment complex, damages roof
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WGFL) —
Crews have removed a large oak tree that fell on a single-story apartment complex Sunday afternoon.
Gainesville Fire-Rescue responded to 2821 SW 37th Pl. at 1 p.m.. and found the tree had damaged the roof. Firefighters say no one was injured. A resident who was inside one of the apartments at the time was able to get out safely.
Authorities say the Red Cross provided temporary living assistance for three adults a child who lived inside the damaged apartment. Crews were on the scene repairing the damage Monday.
The fire department reminds residents that all the rain the area has received can cause trees to become unstable and uproot, causing damage to property.
