One person was killed and a dozen people were injured late Friday after a tractor-trailer struck eight other vehicles on I-75, the Florida Highway Patrol says.

Troopers say the semi was southbound near the 338 mile marker when it ran off the road, struck a guardrail and then slammed into eight vehicles just before midnight.

Jarrett Joseph Tereskun, 25, of Fruitland Park died in the wreck, according to an incident report. Tereskun was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette at the time of the collision.

Troopers say two people were seriously injured and 10 more had minor injuries.

The wreck is still being investigated. No one has been charged.

The southbound lanes were shut down for hours, less than 12 hours after another fatal wreck shut down the highway near Micanopy Friday.
