Troopers: Man injured in crash involving 11-year-old girl driving grandma's stolen vehicle
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WGFL) —
Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a man was seriously injured Saturday after he was struck by an 11-year-old girl driving a Ford Explorer she stole from her grandmother.
Troopers say the wreck happened at 5:53 p.m. Saturday on State Road 26 at Fort Clarke Boulevard.
A report released Monday says the 11-year-old Trenton girl stole her grandmother's 2000 Ford Explorer about 30 minutes before the crash.
The report says the Explorer was eastbound on 26 when it struck a 2016 Jeep Wrangler that had stopped for the red light.
The 49-year-old driver of the Jeep was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. The 11-year-old girl was treated with minor injuries.
Troopers say charges are pending.
