UF Professor receives Matheson Museum Award for his contributions to FL History
The Matheson Museum is home to more than 150 years of archived history for Gainesville, Alachua County and it's surrounding areas.
On April 3rd, The Matheson Museum Awarded Jack Davis the 2018 Sarah Matheson Award.
Davis is a History Professor at the University of Florida. He was recognized for this award after making several contributions to Florida's History.
"I think it enriches their lives to know about their State's history..Florida is not just pastel colors and palm trees it's this place that's really much a part of the American experience," Davis said.
Davis published a recent award winning book, The Gulf, and wrote a piece in the Tampa Bay Times about Marjory Stoneman Douglas students, saying Douglas would have been proud of them.
