University of Florida graduates sing Tom Petty's 'I Won't Back Down' during commencement
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WGFL) —
The University of Florida continues to find ways to celebrate Gainesville's favorite son, Tom Petty.
UF President Kent Fuchs on Saturday led a crowded O'Connell Center in Petty's "I Won't Back Down" during his commencement address for fall graduates. Graduates and their families sang along while holding up their cellphone lights.
The school first played the song during the homecoming game against LSU in October, shortly after Petty's death.
