University of Florida students respond to Richard Spencer speech with love, #TogetherUF
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WGFL) —
University of Florida students are countering a white nationalist's speech on campus Thursday with a message of their own: Love.
The school started the hashtag #TogetherUF earlier this month after confirming National Policy Institute leader Richard Spencer would speak on campus. UF President Kent Fuchs urged everyone to stay away from the speech at the Phillips Center, while asking students not to let the message of hate to go unchallenged.
Students responded by using everything from paint, chalk and social media to spread the word.
