Wanted Wednesday: Sex offender accused of leading deputies on high-speed chase
BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. (WGFL) —
For this week’s Wanted Wednesday, we bring you a man who Bradford County deputies say led them on a high-speed chase Monday night.
Deputies say 29-year-old Donald Brinson Jr. escaped after crashing the car, and he's still on the run.
“He (deputy) initiated a traffic stop,” said Mjr. Brad Smith of the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office. “Car pulls over, he got out to approach the vehicle. At that time the car did a U-turn and started heading back towards Lake Butler.”
Smith says the deputy started to chase after the car but backed off for the public's safety.
“A short time later, he came upon the vehicle which had run off the road and hit a power poll,” Smith said. “We had some witnesses in the area who saw subject get out of the vehicle, leaving on foot.”
Deputies discovered a half empty bottle of vodka in the passenger seat.
They traced the vehicle to the owner, who said Brinson barrowed her car.
Deputies say Brinson is a registered sex offender after an incident in 2010.
“The charges were for lewd and lascivious assault on a child between the ages of 12 and 15,” Smith said. “So we’d like to get him off the streets and get him behind bars.”
Brinson’s charges rack up to a $100 thousand bond for his arrest.
Brinson is a black male with black hair and brown eyes. He’s 6’1 and 215 pounds.
The Bradford County Sheriff’s Office asks if you know where Brinson is, don’t approach him, but call 911.
