Girl dies after boat operated by father hits her on NH lake, police say

New Hampshire State Police say a father struck his daughter with a boat while she was water skiing in Hebron, New Hampshire Monday morning, killing her. (MGN)

HEBRON, N.H. (WGME) -- New Hampshire State Police say a 12-year-old girl water skiing in Hebron was struck and killed by a powerboat operated by her father Monday morning.

Police say it happened on Newfound Lake around 8:30 a.m.

Police say the father was operating the towing boat when the girl fell while water skiing.

Her father drove the boat back toward her, but became briefly distracted. Police say the boat passed over the top of the girl at a slow speed and the girl suffered serious injuries to her torso.

She was immediately transported to shore. CPR was started, but efforts to revive her were not successful.

The incident remains under investigation. The girl's name has not been released.
