Trump exclusive interview: 'Obamacare won't even be around in a year'

The battle over what to do with Obamacare continues in Washington. Neither party seems to agree with how to move forward with universal health care.

But, what does President Donald Trump have to say about the topic? The president exclusively sat down with a reporter from Sinclair Broadcast Group's WWMT in Michigan this week to explain his role as an "arbitrator" in his quest to "repeal and replace."

Here's what he said:

LOOKING AT HEALTH CARE, WHAT ROLE DID YOU PLAY IN THE CONGRESSIONAL REPUBLICANS’ PROPOSAL?

TRUMP: In a way I’m an arbitrator. I want to see it happen, but it has to be great for the people.

I want to make it really good I want to make it really strong but it’s tough because we’re not going to get any Democrat votes. If we gave the best plan in the history of the world, the democrats won’t vote because they don’t want the Republicans to get credit, which is a very serious thing, they’re selfish.

WHAT DOES THE GOP PLAN DO THAT OBAMACARE DOESN’T DO?

TRUMP: When we get phase 3 approved, we’re going to go for drug prices, we’re going to reduce drug prices. We’re going to have a bidding system that’s going to be fantastic, it’s going to come in phase 3 and If we can’t get phase 3 approved, I’m going to have a bill because it’s so important to me, drug prices. Prices for health care will go down, we’re going to have tremendous competition. We’re going to have a much, much better plan in terms of health care for every single circumstance where Obamacare doesn’t.

Obamacare won’t even be around in a year. If we didn’t do anything, within a year or two it would have imploded. It’s already imploded. If you look at Arizona, this year it’s going to be 116% percent, next year it’s going to be worse. This area is through the roof and next year it’s only going to get worse. When you compare things, Obamacare is just fiction because Obamacare is not going to be around.
