Gators respond to loss of 7 players with "next man up" mentality
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WGFL) —
This week the Gators are dealing with a fallout of having seven players suspended over the weekend for misuse of scholarship funds. So when Florida opens the season in Arlington, Texas against Michigan- they'll be without a few key players and some needed depth.
One of the key players suspended from the season opener is all-star, wide receiver Antonio Callaway. But from the coaches to the players, they say the depth on their roster is strong and the mentality for everyone is "next man up".
Martez Ivey, OL, says the wide receiver corner is deep and that he has total trust in the offense, inside and out.
On the outside, there's senior Brandon Powell, sophomore Tyrie Cleveland; who led the team with 21 yards per catch last season, Soph. Josh Hammond, and even first-year freshman Kadarius Toney to look out for.
