Tim Tebow kicks off 2018 season with Rumble Ponies
Minor League clubs kick off the 2018 season this week, which means former Gator quarterback Tim Tebow takes the field tonight with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
"My realistic expectations are to play as hard as I can every single day, to be a great teammate, to give great effort, to have great focus," said Tebow, 2007 Heisman Trophy winner. "Felt really good coming into Spring Training and had a little set back with an injury. When I came back from that, been able to feel like I made a lot of progress and feel really good."
"That last week in Spring Training he got some of those at bats, where they ended up being home runs," Rumble Ponies manager Luis Rojas said. "It's something that, you're probably not gonna see it every day, but the process of battling the at-bat and finding again his pitch to hit, that's one of the things we want to work with him and he's done it. At the end of the spring he was doing it."
Binghamton begins play tonight at 6:35 p.m., and Tebow is batting seventh in the lineup and starting in left field.
