UF expected to give White contract extension

After Florida men's basketball came to an end with an Elite Eight loss to South Carolina, Athletic Director Scott Stricklin revealed that a contract extension for Mike White is in the works.

White's had big shoes to fill, taking the place of icon Billy Donovan.

But, he's certainly earned the university's trust. White just completed the second year of his six-year deal worth $12 million. UF finished the 2016-17 season with a 27-9 record, a six-game improvement over his 21-15 rookie campaign.

"We've had a lot of really positive conversation," White said Tuesday of his talks with Stricklin. "I'm very pleased with the outcomes of our conversations. I'm blessed to have his faith, as a guy that inherits me. I'm blessed because he didn't hire me. We're very much aligned in terms of our visions for this program."
