Authorities have charged a 16-year-old girl with attempted murder in the first degree in connection with a drive-by shooting at the Linton Oaks neighborhood in December.

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office says Taniya Williams was arrested Jan. 18 and taken to juvenile detention. On Friday the State Attorney charged Williams, who turns 17 later this month, as an adult.

Court records say Williams and 17-year-old Matkenzie Edwards tried to kill Antrell Hamilton, Jr. when he fired into a crowd on Dec. 28. Edwards was arrested earlier this month.

No one was injured in the shooting, which deputies say started as an argument about a girl on social media.

Williams' bond was set at $500,000.

Correction: An earlier version of this story reported Williams was arrested this weekend. She was arrested Jan. 18th and charged as an adult on Friday. We regret the error.
