23-year-old Gainesville man charged with murder in stabbing death
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WGFL) —
Police have arrested a 23-year-old Gainesville man accused of stabbing a 61-year-old man to death inside an apartment Tuesday.
Gainesville Police charged Timothy D. Cooper with first-degree premeditated murder in the death of Leonard Roddy,
Officer Ben Tobias said officers responded at 3:36 p.m. to a stabbing call at Southern Pines Apartments at 4128 SW 17th Place. Roddy died at the scene while Cooper remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, Tobias said.
Tobias said Roddy was staying at the apartments for the past few days.
The relationship between the two men wasn't immediately disclosed.
