A bizarre robbery in Levy County Saturday has deputies pleading the community for tips.
Officials say around 11:30 P.M, a man walked in a convenience store, pointed a gun towards a female employee, and demanded money.
What officials say was strange about this encounter was after he received the money, the robber asked for a single pack of Newport cigarettes, and apologized as he walked out of the store.
Officials say the robber drove away in a burnt orange Dodge Caliber.
“We believe this individual was passing through our area and possibly lives somewhere south of Levy County, like Citrus, Hernando, Pasco County areas,” says Lt. Scott Tummond, Levy County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Deputies believe the robber was in his early 20’s, he was wearing a hoodie, a NY beanie and carried a black backpack. They also say he is left-handed and has a tattoo on his right hand.
“This person should be brought to justice as soon as possible, but we need your help,” says Lt. Tummond.
