Alachua County Animal Shelters provide free services, micro chipping, pet food, adoptions
Alachua County Humane Society and Alachua County Animal Services are teaming up for a free animal adoption event and micro-chipping clinic Saturday (7/30).
If you donate blood for Lifesouth you can take home a new friend for free or get your current pet micro-chipped just in time for forth of July.
"More pets go lost on the 4th of July during any other day of the year. We see almost a 30% increase in strays coming in because the fireworks are scary and a lot of animals have a fear of fireworks," Danielle Cummings with Alachua County Humane Society said.
They are using "Save a Life" microchips. Alachua County Humane Society says the average reunite time is 2 minutes.
"It's really easy if someone finds your pet and googles your microchip number, your information will come up," Cummings said.
The Humane Society will also give away free pet food to those who participate. The event will be at the Alachua County Animal Services Department (3400 NE 53rd Ave, Gainesville, FL) from 10 am to 5 pm.
