Alachua County School District responding to threatening email
Alachua County Schools alerted parents this morning that they were one of four districts to receive an email threatening violence.
A release from the district says no specific schools or districts were mentioned in the email and, at this time, the email is not considered a credible threat.
The district says it's working with law enforcement to trace the source of the email and that it appears to have originated overseas. Police say the email came from a server in Bolivia.
"Out of an abundance of caution, local law enforcement will ensure that resource officers and deputies are in place at all schools today," the release says. "Please be assured that the safety of all students, staff and visitors to our schools is our highest priority. As always, the district and law enforcement encourage citizens to report anything out of the ordinary."
Update: Levy County was not one of the districts to receive the email.
