Woman accused of robbing Gainesville bank with socks on her hands
Alachua County Sheriff's deputies say they caught a woman minutes after she robbed a West University bank this morning.
Deputies say 47-year-old Sacoya Everts walked into the TD Bank at 7515 West University Avenue around 9 a.m. They say she paused to cover her hands with socks then gave a teller a handwritten note that included the words, "This is a robbery."
Investigators say Everts stuffed a stack of money and walked out of the bank, but not before an employee activated the silent alarm.
Deputies and officers rushed to the bank and set a perimeter. They say they found Everts about 10 minutes later with the money still hidden in her pants and the clothes she wore during the robbery nearby.
Everts is charged with armed robbery.
