Armed robbers hold up X-Mart, Waffle House within hours of each other
Gainesville Police and Alachua County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a pair of similar armed robberies that happened within a few hours of each other.
Deputies at 1:15 a.m. responded to a robbery alarm at the X-Mart at 3510 SW 13th Street and discovered the business had been robbed. Deputies say two male suspects, with their faces covered and armed with a hand gun, robbed the store of cash and electronics.
At 4:30 a.m. Gainesville Police responded to a robbery call at the Waffle House at 3919 SW 40th Blvd. Officers say two suspects, wearing masks and armed with handguns, stole cash from the register and demanded money from the safe, but employees didn't have access. Police say only one of the suspects was wearing gloves.
Officers used a K-9 to track the suspects to a parking lot, indicating they took off in a vehicle. Police say there's no security video of this robbery.
