The Florida Highway Patrol has identified a 59-year-old man who died after his dump truck was struck by a train near Hawthorne Wednesday morning.

Troopers say Terry Owens of Palatka died at the scene of the crash. It happened about 10 a.m. on U.S. Highway 301 and SE 111th Avenue.

A report says the 2004 Mack truck was exiting a private driveway that intersects the railroad tracks. Trooper say it entered the path of a CSX train heading northbound, which struck the truck on the driver's side.

The investigation is ongoing.
