One woman hit in leg after multiple shots fired at Gardenia Garden in Gainesville

Police say a woman was shot in the leg after multiple shots were fired at Gardenia Garden Apartments in Gainesville late Wednesday.

Gainesville Police say officers were in the area of Gardenia Gardens on 1727 NE 8th Ave. around 11:50 p.m. when they heard about 4-to-6 shots to the east of them. Seconds later they received a call that someone had been shot in the parking lot near Building A. When they arrived they found a woman who had been shot in the lower leg. Officer Ben Tobias said they administered first aid until the scene was safe for EMS.

Officers searched the area and found a round went through a bedroom window where a woman and her infant son were. Tobias said the baby was not hit. Police also found another bullet hole in a building column near Apartment A10 on the westside, but no one else was wounded.
