Florida man found in road talking about cats and gators is accused of murdering girlfriend
LAKE CITY, Fla. (WGFL) - It started Wednesday night with a call about a man lying on Raven Lane near Lake City.
Columbia County Sheriff's investigators say 37-year-old James Hall was combative with the deputy and medics trying to treat him. They say Hall tried to hit the deputy, who then used a Taser on Hall and put him in handcuffs. That's when they say he "began making strange statements about cats and alligators all around him," according to a sheriff's office release.
The deputy saw dried blood on Hall and asked him if that was from the cats and alligators.
"Do you want the truth?" Hall reportedly asked the deputy.
The deputy said yes. That's when investigators say Hall told them he killed his girlfriend and she was in a root at a home down the street.
Investigators say they checked the house and found a woman's body in a bedroom. Deputies have not yet identified the woman.
Hall is charged with murder, battery on a law enforcement officer and drug possession charges.
