Gainesville man accused of firing shots at car at Tiger Bay Apartments
Gainesville Police arrested a 20-year-old man accused of firing shots at a car at Tiger Bay Apartments Tuesday night.
Police charged Jachuary Flowers with two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Police say Flowers has nine previous felony convictions.
Police responded to Tiger Bay Apartments around 8:15 p.m. and found six shell casings in the parking lot. A witness told police she was outside when she saw a blue Nissan drive through the area with a group of men in the car. She went into the breezeway because she felt like something bad was going to happen. After turning, she heard multiple gunshots come from the parking lot area where the Nissan was.
Police found the Nissan several blocks from the complex parked at the owner's residence. The car had four gunshot holes across the driver's side door frame and window. After police questioned the resident and victims who were in the car, they said Flowers had walked up to their vehicle and fired gunshots. Police say one of the men identified Flowers in a photo lineup.
Police say Flowers admitted to firing the shots and that he borrowed the handgun because a group of men in a similar vehicle had surrounded him earlier and pointed a gun at him. Police say they had no evidence to prove his story.
