Boss of nursing assistant accused of stealing from clients: 'I feel very betrayed'

Carmen Walker. Alachua County Jail.

Gainesville Police have arrested a certified nursing assistant accused of stealing nearly $15,000 from a couple.

Police charged 37-year-old Carmen Michelle Walker with grand larceny and fraud.

Officer Ben Tobias said Walker was employed by Granny Nannies when she withdrew the money from the victims' credit after getting them to tell her their PIN numbers. Police say the victims' financial advisers reported the thefts.

Bruce Troll, owner of Granny Nannies, said he's known for Walker for six years.

"If I would have picked someone to take care of my mom it would have been Carmen.," Troll said.

Troll said Walker did care for his step-mom.

"It's just the last person I would expect," he said. "I feel very betrayed. I do believe in redemption and grace, but it's sad."

A police report says Walker used their debit cards to withdraw money. She is accused of taking $9,887 from an 88-year-old and $4,952 from an 85-year-old victim.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
