Gainesville Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Saturday morning near the University of Florida campus.

Officers were patrolling West University Avenue shortly after 3 a.m. when they heard a shot fired near the Kava Lounge, Officer Ben Tobias said. Officers found a man in his 20s with a gunshot wound to his side. He was taken to a hospital and remains in ICU, Tobias said.

Tobias said the investigation shows the shooting victim was arguing with an unidentified person moments before the shooting happened. The shooting victim reportedly pulled a gun and "went after another person" when he was shot in the side by an unknown person.

Security video obtained by CBS 4 Gainesville shows people running from Kava Lounge immediately after shots were fired.
