Gainesville police looking for suspects who robbed man of his clothes, fired shots at him

Gainesville Police are searching for two people who robbed a man of his clothes at gunpoint and fired two shots at him when he ran away.

Police responded to a report of a naked person at a Kangaroo convenience store around 4:14 a.m., Officer Ben Tobias said.

The victim told officers he was robbed at Southern Pines Apartments on 4117 SW 17th Place. Officers found witnesses and a crime scene near apartment 4153, Tobias said.

The victim told officers two strangers approached him and dragged him to the road in front of his apartment. They reportedly forced him to the ground at gunpoint and stole his clothing, Tobias said. He said they also hit him over the head with a vase from a nearby apartment.

He told police he was finally able to get up and run, which is when one of the suspects fired two shots at him.

Police have not released any information about the suspects. The incident is still under investigation.
