Gainesville Police: Panhandler tried to cut manager after told to leave Burger King
Gainesville police say a 60-year-old panhandler tried to cut a Burger King manager with a blade Monday because he told him to stop asking drive-thru customers for money.
Police arrested and charged Willie Ray Myers with aggravated assault.
An arrest report says Myers left after the manager told him to stop begging at the drive-thru lane, but witnesses told police he came back with a utility blade around 12:30 a.m.
Police say he lunged at the manager with the blade from across the service counter. Police say they saw Myers throw the blade away when they arrived.
He's being held at the Alachua County Jail on $25,000 bond.
