GoFundMe account set up for children of fallen Gilchrist County Sgt. Noel Ramirez
TRENTON, Fla. (WGFL) —
The father-in-law of fallen Gilchrist County Sheriff Sgt. Noel Ramirez has set up a GoFundMe account to support the education of Ramirez's two young children.
Ramirez and Deputy Taylor Lindsey were ambushed Thursday as they sat to eat lunch at a Chinese restaurant in Trenton, Fla.
Sergio Rodriguez started the GoFundMe account to create an education trust for Ramirez's 5-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter. The account has been verified by GoFundMe and Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.
"My name is Sergio Rodriguez and I am the proud father-in-law of Sergeant Noel Ramirez. We are deeply saddened by the loss of our son-in-law and the father of our two beautiful grandchildren," Rodriguez wrote. "His integrity in the line of duty set an example for so many throughout his service. More importantly, he was a loving husband and a wonderful role model for his children. While a father can not be replaced, donations raised on this GoFundMe will be put into a trust for the benefit of Noel’s children. We know that Noel would want nothing but the best for their futures.
The account has a starting goal of $75,000.
Sheriff Bobby Schultz has also announced a fund that will benefit both officers. Donations can be made at any Drummond Community Bank branch.
