HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. (WGFL) -- Parents are picking up their children from High Springs Community School now that the school has been taken off lockdown.
Authorities say people at the school heard what they thought were gunshots off-campus.
High Springs police say they secured the school and searched the area out of an abundance of caution. They say gunshots were not confirmed.
The Alachua County Sheriff's Office says rumors of an active shooter are false.
Officials caution that student pickup might take longer than usual and asked for parents' patience.
