Gainesville, Fla. -- Adrian Hayes - Santos will face off with Robert Mounts for the district four commission seat.
Santos was elected in 2016 and is running for re- election. Santos said he wants to continue working on the positive progressive vision he has for Gainesville.
" I recently pushed forward the zero-waste policy and Gainesville became 100 percent with a goal for that as well for 2045. I'm also working to ensure that we have affordable high-speed broadband internet for everyone in Gainesville,” Santos said.
Gainesville native and air force veteran Robert Mounts, filed to run for the District 4 Gainesville City Commission seat Friday morning, the last day to qualify for the race.
Mounts said he wants to work on issues like affordable housing.
" We have many historic neighborhoods like Porters Quarters and Pleasant St. and they all feel threatened because of the too rapid decisions on development and they ever increasing influx of people just wanting to build more student apartments."
