Authorities say seven people, including children, are dead and seven more are injured after a fiery crash on I-75 southbound between Alachua and Gainesville.

UPDATE: Five children among seven killed in I-75 crash

Troopers on Friday morning opened one southbound lane to traffic. The middle and outside lanes are still blocked.

The crash happened at 3:42 p.m. Thursday near the 394 mile marker, shutting down all lanes. The northbound lanes were reopened around 7:30 p.m. but the Florida Highway Patrol says the southbound lanes could remain closed for quite a while.

Troopers say the crash involved two tractor trailers, a sedan and a passenger van. Lt. Patrick Riordan said two of the tractor-trailers collided and caught fire, as did the sedan.

Riordan said most of those who died were in the van, including children and adults.

ACFR says the fire is out with 50 gallons of diesel spilled.
